How file history is meant to work, once it is built.
File history#
File version history is not built. Nothing in the tree records a file's changes over time yet.
When it is built, a file would carry a history you can look back through, and that history would live with the workspace.
Recovering an earlier version#
The plan is to open a file's history and pick the version you want, restoring it without deleting the versions after it.
Until that ships, keep your own copies of anything you cannot lose.
Where this stands#
This page records an intent, not a feature you can use. There is nothing to undo yet.
It is here so the shape of the feature is on record before it is built.
